There are many remedies and fruits that can either reduce or eliminate the acid that causes the pain. These are five refrigerator foods that you should add to your diet immediately.

  • Strawberries can provide immediate relief for your symptoms. One cup of strawberries can neutralize the acid.
  • The acid can also be neutralized by cherries. Vitamins A, B5 & E are all found in cherries. Gout sufferers can sometimes be deficient in these vitamins. Take a multi-vitamin every day.
  • Blueberries are similar to cherries. Blueberries are also rich in anthocyanins, which have anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Grapes are rich in alkalines, which neutralize acids. These fruits are very beneficial and also easily available at any time of year.
  • Baking soda is another option that I recommend. Baking soda may not be in your fridge, but most people have it in their cupboards. Baking soda has been shown that it dissolves crystals, which can reduce the pain of attacks as well as increase the solubility and stability of uric acid. This will allow your body to flush out the dissolved acid. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with 8 ounces water. You can drink this drink throughout the day, but you should not exceed 4 teaspoons baking soda due to the high sodium content.
