Natural Treatment

It is better to use natural and homemade gout remedies. Avoid Aspirin, as it can cause uric acid retention which can lead to urate crystals and pain. These are some effective home remedies for gout. You can choose from the ones that work best for you, depending on what you have. Place about 3 tablespoons charcoal in a bowl. Add warm water to cover your foot. You can soak your foot for as long as 30 minutes.

This should provide quick relief. The charcoal will stain the basin. This is another favorite of our grandparents. Add warm water to a basin and half a cup of Epsom Salts. This is a powerful way to reduce swelling and inflammation. To make the pain less severe, you can add hot water to keep the foot in warm water for longer. A charcoal/flaxseed poultice is another proven treatment for gout. Make a paste by mixing equal amounts of flaxseed and charcoal (very fine is best) and blending them together. To keep the paste in place, place it on the affected joint. Cover it with cotton or plastic. You can either leave it on for a few hours or change it every four hours. The charcoal can stain so be careful where you place your ointment.

Try This!

Another option is to soak the affected area in hot and then alternate with cold water for about 5 minutes. Avoid soaking your foot in cold water for longer than five minutes. This can cause the pain to worsen. Always finish with warm water. After you have dealt with the immediate pain, you will want to prevent this nightmare from happening again. Gout is a condition that results in an excess of uric acids in your body.

Gout is a painful form of arthritis. Uric acid is simply a waste product from the digestion of purines in our foods. The problem is when uric acid builds up in the body. These acids are not being eliminated by the kidneys as quickly as they should. A second reason is excessive uric acid being produced by the breakdown of purines. Both of these reasons can occur simultaneously. This causes excess uric acid to build up in the joints and other parts of your body as urate crystals. This is when you feel the pain and what is known as gout. How do you do this?
